Lived Experience Leading Change: Join The Buttery’s LEAG

At The Buttery, we believe that the people who use our services, and the families, carers and supporters who walk alongside them, can help shape better outcomes for everyone.

This belief is at the heart of our Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG), a dedicated group of people who use their lived and living experience of mental health and alcohol and other drug challenges to help inform and improve the services we provide. LEAG ensures that the voices of the people most impacted by our work are heard, respected and reflected in decision-making across our organisation.

Why lived experience matters

Every recovery journey is unique. People who have personally navigated mental health concerns, alcohol and other drug use challenges, or supported a loved one through these experiences bring insights that can’t be learned through textbooks or policy documents alone.

The Buttery recognises the power of these perspectives in shaping meaningful and effective services. Through LEAG, members provide feedback, advice and recommendations that help ensure our programs remain responsive, inclusive and personalised to our participants.

For more information on LEAG or if you are interested in joining, check out our EOI brochure here.
