Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG)

The Buttery is leading a range of initiatives across its Alcohol and Other Drugs (AOD) and Mental Health (MH) services to improve the outcomes and experiences of people using our services.  The Buttery’s services cover the NSW Mid-North Coast and Northern Rivers Regions – from Port Macquarie in the south to Tweed Heads in the north and west to Kempsey, Grafton and Nimbin.

The Buttery values your expertise, views and preferences and is establishing a Lived Experience Advisory Group (LEAG) to support meaningful participation and partnerships across our services. Each person’s journey is a unique and valued contribution to The Buttery’s commitment to providing inclusive, safe and high-quality care.

This group will be supported by people with relevant experience in the AOD and MH fields to ensure outcomes reflect current best practice and compliance with Australian standards.

The role of the LEAG is to partner with The Buttery to:

  • provide feedback and expertise on issues related to people living with substance use and/or mental health concerns, their family members, kin and supporters
  • provide information and advice to inform our service development
  • ensure lived experience of substance use and/or mental health concerns informs the work of all The Buttery services.

The LEAG will meet monthly commencing September, 2023. The Buttery will provide secretariat support to the LEAG and payment for attending members. Attendance can be in person at our Binna Burra site or through teleconferencing.

We encourage applications from people of all ages, First Nations people, people with disability, people from culturally and linguistically diverse backgrounds and from lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, gender diverse, intersex and queer people (LGBTIQ).

For further information please contact Christine Minkov on 0416 493 441.

Thank you for your interest in joining The Buttery LEAG. We look forward to working with the LEAG to improve our services to better meet your needs.
