NEW: The Buttery’s Community Based Rehab Program (CORE)

Introducing The Buttery’s latest rehab program, CORE.

CORE is a short-term mid-intensity rehab program delivered in the local community.

CORE will:

  • Improve access to treatment as it is delivered close to home

  • Extend treatment options to people who would have never been able to leave their family commitments or other responsibilities

  • Offer drug and alcohol rehabilitation under real life conditions and challenges

  • Be backed by the Buttery’s expertise and experience gained in over 40 years of treating drug and alcohol dependence

  • Apply the latest evidence-based treatment models

  • Address life-style issues such as nutrition, exercise, stress management, mental health, and budgeting

  • Offer opportunities for social and recreational activities in a safe and supportive environment

  • Help participants break social isolation

  • Offer aftercare to sustain positive changes

Who is it for?

  • People over 18 years of age who have completed withdrawal from alcohol and other drugs

  • People who don’t want to join long-term residential program but are strongly committed to deal with their alcohol or drug problems

  • Single parents or carers, and others with personal circumstances that impede joining a live-in program

  • People in early recovery who are looking for support to help them to maintain positive changes

  • People who left a residential program and want intensive aftercare support

What does it offer

  • A six-week non-residential structured program delivered by professional and experienced staff

  • A range of group-work modules

  • Individual counselling and support

  • Recreation and social activities

  • Optional support for families

The Program will be offered in 2018 in three locations across the Northern Rivers area: Byron Bay, Lismore and Tweed Heads – six weeks in each of the locations

  • TWEED HEADS CORE commences on the MON 4/2/19 and will finish on the THURS 14/3/19. We are accepting referrals for TWEED HEADS now.
  • BYRON BAY CORE commences 29/04/19 and will finish the THURS 06/06/19. We will be accepting referrals for CORE BYRON BAY as of the 19/03/19.

Dates for Lismore and the second Tweed Heads intake will be announced later in the year.

What times?

Core program activities will be scheduled between 9.30 am and 2.30 pm; some optional activities may be offered outside of these hours

Do people need to be clean / sober to participate?

The Program is designed for people who are detoxed (currently not drinking / using) and have made a resolve to remain sober / clean at least for the duration of the program. People stable on pharmacotherapies and other prescribed medications may be able to participate

Do people need to go through Riverlands detox first?

No, as long as they are not going through physical withdrawal while on the program

How often will this program be repeated?

The current one-off funding is for one six-week program at each of the locations – there may not be another opportunity to participate

How much does it cost?

Participation is free of charge. There may be a small cost for optional activities

Things to consider if you are interested …

  • Are you willing to abstain from alcohol and drug use for the duration of the program? It’s an intensive program that will take commitment to see it through

  • You will need stable accommodation for the duration of the program. If you’re worried about where you are going to stay for the night, it will be hard for you to commit to the program

  • If you are currently struggling with your mental health, we may need to talk to you and your doctor/mental health worker about whether the program is right for you and what additional supports you may need to participate
