Building our New Buttery

From the fundraiser’s desk

The really exciting news as we welcome in the 2008 festive season is that the plans for The New Buttery are hopefully close to being approved by the The Byron Shire Council . On this page you can see a bird’s eye view of The new Buttery site which is currently Ozzie Jackson farm, the project has so many wonderful elements to it including a major replanting with native vegetation of the 40 acres, onsite state of the art sewage and the buildings are designed to incorporate many environmentally friendly design features. Our director Barry Evans has been working with the project’s architects- tzg, landscape architect Lisa Hochhauser and planner Rob Doolan to pull all elements together for the submission so please join with me in wishing it a safe and happy trip through the last approval stages. This also means that the magnificent efforts of donors, sponsors, volunteers, staff, visual artists and associated people who have offered valued professional assistance can now see their input come to fruition in this first but very important stage of the new project. Of course for this office we are now embarking on a significant fundraising journey to realize the new building. We welcome new people to come on board as well as our trusted friends of The Buttery to work with us over the next 3 years to realise the dream of a new purpose built Buttery, a Centre of Excellence in recovery from addiction.
