Masters Degree in Organisational Development & Training
1983 Joined The Buttery team as the Art Therapist and counsellor.
1988 Director of The Buttery
1990 - 2002 Board of Australian Therapeutic Communities Association. (ATCA)
1995 - 1997 President of ATCA.
2000 - 2002 2nd stint President of ATCA.
2004-2006 President NSW Network of Drug and Alcohol Agencies.

"Isolation undermines our sense of self. It denies reality, alienates, and impairs the potential for people to live together and grow through peer support. Chemical dependence maintains the isolation of the individual and blocks the opportunity to regain a sense of self."

Overcoming the isolation caused by drug dependence is a challenge facing both the client and the helping agency offering treatment to the affected person.

Participation in a therapeutic community is an effective form of treatment for the drug dependent person, offering a protected, drug free environment where the individual can begin to address their living problem comfortable in the knowledge that they will have adequate time and security in which to process a lifetime of baggage that has underpinned their addiction.

The Buttery is committed to assisting chemically dependent people realise a sense of self worth, to nurture the living skills that we take for granted and to help them take their place in society with the knowledge that they can choose paths that are not only fulfilling to themselves but to society as well. However as a non-government organization our capacity to provide and maintain the facilities in which people live while they regain personal independence is limited by our funding. While the NSW Government provides a contribution to our program this does not fully fund The Buttery's operations and so we are seeking additional financial assistance.

By making a donation to The Buttery you will help to reduce that sense of isolation and alienation that most drug dependent people experience and assist these people regain a meaningful and productive place in society.
